Break the bias in hiring and promotion

If your organisation is discussing ways to #breakthebias to mark this year’s International Women’s Day theme, our infographic on ways to disrupt bias in hiring and promotion decisions and processes might be a useful conversation starter.

It shows things we can do to challenge implicit assumptions and stereotypes that inhibit diversity. Yet the reality is it’s hard to control our automatic or default judgements. That’s why experts suggest we move from the individual to the collective, from the decision maker to the decision-making process. As Harvard professor and behavioral economist Iris Bohnet explains, ‘…it’s easier to change your processes than your people’.
