Enabling a Culture of Safety, Respect and Inclusion
To support a safe and inclusive workplace, it’s critical that team members have the skills and confidence to be an active bystander or ‘upstander’ when they experience or witness inappropriate, exclusionary or unlawful behaviours.
This 90-minute interactive workshop covers:
- Inclusive and exclusionary behaviours
- Barriers and enablers to being an active bystander
- A framework for intervention that can be applied in the moment
- Practical scenarios to apply the framework.
Learning Outcomes
After attending this workshop, participants will have an improved understanding of:
- Inclusive behaviours that support a safe and respectful workplace culture
- Unlawful, limiting, and exclusionary behaviours including microaggressions based on gender, cultural background, and sexual orientation
- Obstacles to upstander action – such as psychological safety fears or organisational dynamics – and trauma-informed principles to support effective intervention.
- Strategies for intervening using real scenarios and practical conversation starters.
Facilitation Approach
Sessions are trauma-informed, adaptive to group needs, and promote psychological safety and respectful dialogue.
