This week we hosted our first Inclusive Leadership Masterclass for leaders across different organisations and 100% of the participants said they ‘have a better understanding of inclusive practices I can implement at work’.
All of the participants said they would recommend this program to others in their organisation.
The two-hour Masterclass was co-facilitated by Tarang Chawla and Dr Katie Spearritt. The workshop focused on ways to create a team culture where diversity is valued, and inclusive practices are applied in everyday interactions. We covered the six signature strengths of inclusive leaders and ways to challenge biases and promote a speak-up culture.
While the leaders came from different industries such as tech, rail, and retail, there were lots of shared experiences.
When we asked what they’ll start doing because of the learning, here were some of their commitments:
- ‘Ask my team what I could be doing differently’
- ‘Check myself for bias’
- ‘Have conversations with quieter folk outside of meetings to discuss how I could invite them in more’
- ‘Invite alternative perspectives at the start of meetings’
- ‘Call out micro-aggressions appropriately’
- ‘More micro validations’
- ‘Seek out different viewpoints actively’
- ‘Continue my cultural intelligence journey’
While this was the first time we’ve offered a program across organisations, we were able to draw on insights from facilitating in-house programs to thousands of leaders over the past decade.
